Steven Tyler Shares Health Update After Injury That Paused Aerosmith Tour

Emerging from a period of recuperation, Aerosmith’s iconic frontman, Steven Tyler, stepped back into the spotlight, marking his first public appearance since his hiatus to recover from a vocal cord injury.

In a setback that reverberated through the music world, Tyler’s health woes in December 2022 prompted the band to cancel two eagerly anticipated shows as part of their Deuces Are Wild residency at the Park MGM hotel-casino in the vibrant heart of Sin City.

The gravity of Tyler’s condition, involving serious damage to his vocal cords and larynx, led to the rescheduling of Aerosmith’s 2023 performances, including a highly anticipated New Year’s Eve extravaganza. The ambitious Peace Out tour, intended to commemorate five decades of Aerosmith’s legendary musical journey with a grand finale in Montreal in January 2024, faced unforeseen hurdles due to Tyler’s health woes.

As Tyler’s recovery demanded more time than initially anticipated, Aerosmith found themselves compelled to postpone their entire farewell tour until 2024, much to the disappointment of their legion of devoted fans worldwide.

However, a glimmer of hope emerged as Tyler made a spirited return to the limelight, gracing the 5th annual Jam for Janie Grammys viewing party. The event, dedicated to supporting Janie’s Fund—a nonprofit organization Tyler founded to assist girls who have endured abuse and neglect—served as a poignant platform for Tyler to share insights into his recovery journey.

Offering a glimpse into his ongoing healing process, Tyler candidly remarked, “My throat’s been better, but it is on the mend. And out of all things, I’ve decided to take the advice not from my doctors but from the girls at Janie’s house.”

Despite his struggles and the heartache of being unable to take the stage alongside his Aerosmith bandmates and the legendary Black Crowes, Tyler remained resolute in his commitment to his fans. He conveyed his profound regret at the missed opportunities, yet offered a heartfelt assurance: “I am heartbroken to not be out there with Aerosmith, my brothers, and the incredible Black Crowes, rocking with the best fans in the world. I promise we will be back as soon as we can!”
