Meet Pentatonix, a vibrant 5-member a cappella group that rose to fame after winning the third season of “The Sing Off” in the US. With a surge in popularity for a cappella music fueled by shows like Glee and the Pitch Perfect movies, Pentatonix has become a leading name in the genre.
In a captivating live performance at the Hollywood Bowl in 2022, Pentatonix demonstrates their extraordinary vocal skills and intricate arrangements in a rendition of “Sound of Silence.”
Formed by Mitch Grassi, Scott Hoying, and Kirstie Maldonado during their high school years in Arlington, Texas, Pentatonix’s journey began with a radio competition where they impressed with their rendition of “Telephone” by Lady Gaga and Beyoncé. Later, they joined forces with Avi Kaplan and Kevin Olusola, completing the group.
Despite auditioning for “The Sing Off” without ever meeting in person, Pentatonix impressed with their unique sound, inspired by the pentatonic scale. Since then, they’ve released six albums, including Christmas specials, and won three Grammy Awards.
