This weekend, Morrissey, the frontman of the former Smiths, was scheduled to perform two gigs in California. But later on, it was announced that the performances would not go forward because of “unforeseen circumstances,” which turned out to be health problems.
It was recently made public that the musician has been looking for medical supervision. Donnie Knutson, his tour manager, shared the news on social media. He penned:
“Morrissey is receiving medical supervision for physical exhaustion. He has been ordered to rest for two weeks, and he will remain in Zurich.”
Morrissey is still scheduled to conduct seven shows in South America and Mexico the following month.
Morrissey Planned To Play All Of ‘You Are The Quarry’
The ticket holders were informed that they would receive a refund when the unfortunate news was announced on the Honda Center’s official X account.
Morrissey planned to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the record that yielded his highest U.S. chart performance by performing the entirety of his 2004 album “You Are the Quarry” throughout both performances. Four of the album’s singles, “Irish Blood, English Heart,” “First of the Gang to Die,” “Let Me Kiss You,” and “I Have Forgiven Jesus” made it to the UK Top 10.
Similar to the current occurrence, Morrissey left the stage at the Greek Theater in the city after just 20 minutes of his earlier performance in Los Angeles. One of his musicians told the crowd:
“Sorry, but due to unforeseen circumstances, the show is not going to continue. Very sorry. We’ll see you next time. Apologies.”
It has not yet been announced whether the canceled performances will be rescheduled for later dates.
