During their appearance on CBS Mornings’ Saturday Sessions, THE AVETT BROTHERS treated fans to a preview of their latest self-titled album, which just dropped after a five-year hiatus. The folk band performed three tracks from the album: “Orion’s Belt,” “Country Kid,” and “Forever Now.”
For this album, The Avett Brothers teamed up once again with their longtime collaborator and producer Rick Rubin. Rubin’s influence takes the band in a surprisingly brighter direction, marking a departure from their previous albums like “I and Love and You” and “Closer Than Together.”
According to Rolling Stone’s review, the band infuses their signature sound with a playful energy, even swapping their acoustic instruments for electric ones in a nod to their fun-loving spirit. The review also notes that while the Avetts’ transition between serious and lighthearted tones may feel abrupt at times, their somber moments remain their most defining.
Currently, The Avett Brothers are on a summer-long North American tour promoting their new album, with Sierra Ferrell joining them on select dates.
