Billie Joe Armstrong was born on February 17, 1972 (in Oakland, California). His mama, Ollie, was a waitress, and his pops, Andrew, was a truck driver by day and jazz musician by night. Billie Joe Armstrong’s Career begins
As fate would have it, Billie Joe crossed paths with his future Green Day bandmate, Mike Dirnt, in the cafeteria at Hillcrest Elementary. They hit it off immediately and five years later formed the band Sweet Children. Billie Joe went on to attend high school at John Swett High School and Pinole Valley High School, but on the day he turned 18, he decided school wasn’t for him and dropped out faster than a hot potato.
Ah, the year was 1988, and a group of sweet children signed with Lookout! Records, and thus began their musical journey. They soon changed their name to Green Day and released their first EP in 1989, which had a whopping 1,000 hours of music in it! Can you believe that?
