The originally planned performance by Red Hot Chili Peppers at KROQ’s Almost Acoustic Christmas has been canceled. The band had to postpone their performance at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California this weekend owing to an injury that one of its members sustained, according to a recent Instagram post:
“It is with deep regret that we will not be able to perform this weekend at KROQ’s Almost Acoustic Christmas. A band member was injured, preventing us from being able to perform for at least 6 weeks. However, RHCP and KROQ are excited to make it up to you on March 2nd, 2024, at The Forum. So, have a great time this weekend, and hang on to your ticket.”
The Announcement Scared Some Fans
Some fans took issue with the tone of the statement in the comments area, saying it sounded like death news, even though RHCP did not disclose which member was hurt or how bad it was. Someone penned:
“If nobody is dead, can y’all not start off a sentence in a dead announcement-y way like that ever again?”
Another user commented:
“Bruh, I thought someone died; my heart dropped.”
The Band Has Plans For Their Return
The Offspring, Garbage, and Portugal will perform next at the KROQ Christmas event. Lovejoy, Bakar, Cannons, Bleachers, and The Beaches. Meanwhile, February will see the closest performance of RHCP’s “Unlimited Love Tour.”
The band will embark on a new tour in support of their record “Return Of The Dream Canteen” following their March 2024 headline performance at The Forum. The concerts, which will take place in smaller venues than their stadium appearances, will start on May 28 at the RV Inn Style Resorts Amphitheater in Ridgefield, Washington.
