Neil Young and Crazy Horse rocked the Firstbank Amphitheater in Franklin, Tennessee, on Thursday night, following a rain delay from the previous evening. Fans who stuck it out were treated to an electrifying set filled with surprises.
Five songs in, Young pulled out the deep cut “Vampire Blues” from his On the Beach album, a song he hadn’t played with Crazy Horse in over four decades. The encore was also expanded, featuring the tour premiere of “Roll Another Number (For the Road)” and other classics like “Danger Bird” and “Don’t Cry No Tears.”
The North American tour, which began in San Diego on April 24, has faced some weather-related challenges, with outdoor shows due to COVID concerns. Despite delays in Austin and Dallas, the tour pushes on, with the next stop scheduled for May 11 in Bristow, Virginia.
Known for his unpredictable shows, Young is focusing on Crazy Horse classics for this tour, with the most recent song being from 1996. The tour concludes on September 29 in Los Angeles, with talks of possible overseas dates next year.
