Ed Sheeran has spent the last two years traveling the globe, but he’s now pressing pause—and it’s not for a new album or tour. At his fourth and final hometown show on Monday in Chantry Park, Ipswich, Ed announced he’s taking an 18-month break after finishing his record-breaking ÷ (Divide) Tour
On stage, Ed shared:
“As you may or may not know, I’ve been on the Divide tour for over two years now… This is my last gig for probably 18 months.”
He admitted the moment felt bittersweet—like “breaking up with a girlfriend you’ve been with for years”. After playing for around nine million fans worldwide and earning the title of the highest‑grossing tour ever ($750M–$776 M). Ed said it’s time to step back.
❤️ Why Now? Cherry & Change
Ed’s break isn’t just about rest—it’s about love and life. He’s looking forward to spending quality time with his wife, Cherry Seaborn, whom he married in December 2018. He’s talked publicly about his desire to start a family and focus on everyday life beyond touring
Earlier in the year, he opened up about needing a break after realizing he hadn’t “really lived a life” before. Spending time with Cherry, traveling to places like Fiji and Italy, was a chance to reconnect—not just as a couple, but as people.
🌍 Looking Forward
This hiatus isn’t a farewell—just a reset. Ed reassured fans via Instagram, calling the break a time to “make another album and hang out with my cats”
