Country music legend Vince Gill made a memorable appearance at Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival, held at Madison Square Garden in New York City on April 12 and 13. The festival, curated by Clapton himself, brought together a lineup of world-class guitarists, with proceeds supporting the Crossroads Centre, a rehabilitation facility in Antigua founded by Clapton.
Gill took the stage on both nights, delivering standout performances alongside some of the industry’s finest musicians. On Friday, April 12, he played alongside guitarist Andy Fairweather-Low and Clapton, adding his signature touch to two of Clapton’s iconic songs— Lay Down Sally and Wonderful Tonight.
The following night, April 13, Gill returned with his band, joining forces with legendary guitarist Albert Lee and country superstar Keith Urban for a powerful setlist. The group tore through Rodney Crowell’s Ain’t Living Long Like This, with Gill at the helm. Albert Lee took the lead vocals on Ray Charles’ Leave My Woman Alone, while Urban fronted a rousing rendition of the Rolling Stones classic Tumbling Dice. The performance wrapped up with Set Me Up, a Mark Knopfler-penned tune famously recorded by Clapton.
A longtime supporter of the Crossroads Festival, Gill has been a featured performer at every edition of the event since its inception in 2004, reaffirming his status as a vital presence in the world of guitar-driven music.
